Introduction: Through
Jesus’ Life, ministry and His death, you notice a pattern. it begin at his birth?
The Purpose of Jesus Coming:
Matthew 10:34-35 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
Who is WORTHY to follow Jesus?:
Matthew 2:37-39 "Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."
There are two CATEGORIES of people:
The Shepherds and Wise Men VERSUS The others ... Herod being the classic
There are two RESPONSES of people:
Herod "Became Furious" VERSUS Shepherds and Wise Men who "Worshiped"
Why is there a difference?:
RELIGIOUS - doing things in their own strength without an inner transformative work of God.
RELATIONSHIP with Christ - where Jesus has brought about change from within . . . it's now a lifestyle of worship, service, joy surrender.
Conclusion:
