How and Why … We Thank God?
Psalm 103: 1-10
 
1.    We instruct and will ourselves (vs 1)

2.    Because God is Holy (vs 1)

3.    We bless God because (personally):

o    of how kind He is (vs 2)
o    of how forgiving He is  (vs 3, cf 25:11)
o    of how He heals
o    saves us from daily pitfalls (vs 4)
o    God is satisfting (vs 5)

4.    We bless God because (qualities):

o    His righteousness and justice to the oppressed (vs 6)
o    He revealed Himself in His acts (vs 7)
o    The Lord is merciful and gracious (vs 8a)
o    Slow to anger and full of Love (vs 8b)
o    He does not hold on to His anger forever (vs 9)
o    He does not punish us for what we deserve (vs 10)
 
5.    How much does God love us?

o    Look at the height! (vs 11).
To who?     “those who fear him” See also vs 17-18
o    Look at the width! (vs 12)
o    Look at the nature! (vs 13)
o    Why does God love us the way He does – see vs 14-16

6.    A Curtain call to “bless” God:

o    Elite forces (vs 20)
o    Celestial beings (vs 21)
o    All of God’s works (vs 22a)
o    “my soul”
